Renew Our Days as of Old
It is the 25th anniversary of Ilan’s Bar Mitzvah, and it is also 2 days away from his son, Alan’s Bar Mitzvah. Alan is nervous about having to get up in front of his friends and family to read his
Haphtarah and pre-haphtarah speech. He also misses Cantor Ben, a teacher and mentor who died about a year ago. This missing of Cantor Ben becomes obsessive. Alan receives a visit from the ghost of Cantor Ben. This ghostly visit puts Alan back on track to fulfill his destiny. It also enables him to be more confident about his ability to perform at his Bar Mitzvah. He finally tells Susan, a girl he’s had a crush on for a few years, that he likes her. His parents think he is imagining things until his Bar Mitzvah. At his Bar Mitzvah a miracle happens.
